Welcome to [livejournal.com profile] ds_noticeboard's Homecoming & Canadian Thanksgiving Fest! I'm so glad you're here! This little party is lasting ALL WEEKEND, so keep an eye on these posts, plus the Ficlet & Icon-set mini-exchange posts, which will be going up throughout the weekend.

For a lot of us, Due South was one of our first fannish loves, at least in terms of having an online community to share that love and creative passion with. Some of us have a great deal of history together, and others are brand new to this little corner of fandom, so if you can, please take a little time to answer the meme below & get acquainted!

Rules:
The only real rule is for everyone to please respect ALL characters, pairings, & moresomes. We want to create a safe space here for ALL CHARACTER LOVE.

Love Zone

Okay! So now it's time for the Fandom Introductions Meme! )

YAY!!! More posts, coming up soon! Also! Happy Ada Lovelace Day! Kudos to all women in tech, many of whom have made fandom as we know it possible. <3

Let's play the 5 Things game! (examples: "Subj: 5 DS vids I love!" - "Subj: 5 pics of Fraser in jeans" - "Subj: 5 ways Ellen Fanshaw is a rockstar!" - "Subj: 5 reasons Joe Dick owns my heart" - "Subj: 5 DS women fics that everyone should read" - etc.)

How to play:
Choose one of the questions below and answer it in a comment. Comment as many times as you like. Answer as many questions as you like. Be creative!

Hi! *waves* While not at all for the upcoming fic exchange, I was still inspired by said festivities to (finally) complete a gift fic for the lovely [livejournal.com profile] luzula. 1200 words of FKV established relationship fluff await you via click the link below:

To play:
1. Find things in your life that appeared in Due South or C6D episodes or films.
2. Take a picture.
3. Upload picture to an image hosting service (photobucket, imageshack, etc.).
4. Copy the image location URL.
5. Paste the image in the comment window & describe how it relates, if necessary. The HTML code to paste an image is: <img src="http://pastetheImageURLhere">
6. Use the Comment Preview function as much as you need to.
7. Coo over the awesome things other people post.

Some examples to get you started )

I'm sure y'all can think of better stuff than this. Anything goes if you can make a case that it's similar to something that appeared in a DS/C6D ep or movie.

(Note: please be sensible about what's visible in each shot -- i.e., don't use your bank statements as a backdrop for your riding boots or Inuit sculpture collection, 'kay?)

All right! Are we ready? Set! Go! \o/

YAY the viewing party & fandom-wide chat is starting now!

We're using Skype for this because it's the most stable platform we've found across diverse operating systems. You'll need to download Skype if you don't have it already (it's free). (Feel free to ignore all the webcam and Facebook stuff -- we're just using it for IM.)

My skype username is "thesageness". Hazelwho, my fantastic partner in crime for this party, is "hazelwho". Poke either of us (or anyone else who's already there) to be added to the room.

As far as how to watch media together, basically we're going on the assumption that most of us own a lot of the same C6D films and TV eps, so we can coordinate what to watch, cue them all up together, say GO!, and watch them while in chat. \o/

Thing of boo: I'd wanted to host a double feature of Trigger with Hard Core Logo. Alas, I couldn't get access to a full screener copy of Trigger; its release date is in late November, so we'll just have to set something up for then. In the meantime, we can STILL watch HCL -- and everything else, including an early Gordon Pinsent movie called The Rowdyman, which was based on a novel he wrote.

EDIT: The Rowdyman will be seen Saturday, late morning, Chicago time!! And Trigger has just shown up in the place at which these things are kept (ask one of us privately if you need help there), so maybe we CAN manage a Trigger/HCL screening!

So, come watch stuff in good company, stress over making your (shhh, secret!) mini-exchange snippets & icons, brainstorm Due South Seekrit Santa signups, come and go at will, and spend some or all of tonight and tomorrow -- and however long people stick around -- and hang out with us!

Note: if you can't find us on Skype for whatever reason, plz comment to THIS post, or else find us via other instant messengers, and we'll do our best to get you into the right place. Technology experts, we are not, but we WILL try! *g*

Okay! Here we go!! <3
