Look at Draco! Look at them all! The video is shaky and cuts very abruptly in places, but what a joy it is to see any snippets at all from this event 26 years ago! This also gives me hope that gems like this will pop up in future, too!

I'm sharing this link pretty much everywhere right now so no one misses it a moment longer - it's been on YouTube for months and I only heard of it today. There are more clips from various late 1990s due South cons on the same channel, so do check them as well.

Guys, I came across this on Tumblr. Copy pasted from their website www.rcw139.org:

Saddle up your travelling shoes. 2019 will mark the 25th anniversary of Due South, and five years since RCW 139: Thank You Kindly, an incredible event that drew over 100 people from nine countries to Toronto. We think it's time to get together again. We're therefore very excited to announce the RCW 139 Reunion Event, which will take place in August 2019, in Toronto, of course!

If any of you have been to past events like this I‘d appreciate some reviews of how this went.

The RCW 139 con comm has just completed a test run of webcasting for the con, and it's all set to go! If you've never used Bambuser, all you need to do is go to this webcasting channel:

http://bambuser.com/channel/rcw139

You will then see a list of broadcasts, either live or saved. Click on the appropriate broadcast to view, and that's it! Every broadcast, live or saved, also features a chat room, so you can chat live with other fen and also leave comments after the fact! Note that you will need to be signed in, either with a Bambuser account or even more simply, through Facebook, to leave comments.

It's recommended that you visit now and click on the green "Follow rcw139" button, as you can then register your e-mail address and receive a notification when a webcast goes live.

As many of you may have noticed, a large number of fen are preparing to head up to the Pacific Northwest for that reputably INCREDIBLE con known as Pacificon, or, more fondly, [livejournal.com profile] bitchinparty.

I would love to be there. The lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] mergatrude would also love to be there, but alas, life and distance stand in our way. So instead! We are resurrecting the online alternatives to Pacificon, [livejournal.com profile] pacifi_cant | pacifi_cant@DW!

Awesome tentative plans are AWESOME! (and tentative.) Here's what we're looking at so far:

+ Pan-fandom, pan-genre prompt meme.

+ Favorite Moments meme

+ Pan-fandom picspam

+ Claim your own meta ANY of the BP panel topics, including fannish history, writing, AU, idfic, podfic, crafting, kink, and the following fandoms: Due South, Sherlock Homes (any), Sherlock BBC, Star Trek (any/all), Bandom, Comics (any/all) -- to be posted in accordance with the Pacificon schedule. (Exact times will be provided so we don't inadvertently steal any official BP panels' thunder.)

+ Cocktail Party Social of YAY!

+ Skype Viewing Party, if there's interest and the ability to conquer time zones.

Further details will be available at the Pacificant communities on LJ & DW shortly, so join and/or watch [livejournal.com profile] pacifi_cant | pacifi_cant@DW to stay on top of all the happenings!

NOTE: The any-fandom, any-format [livejournal.com profile] pacifi_cant | pacifi_cant@DW prompt meme will open VERY SOON!!!

[livejournal.com profile] mergatrude & I are looking forward to an AWESOME pan-fandom party and we hope to see ALL of you playing in the comments -- and in chat if we get that running! Come and play! And please pimp this far and wide!

Thanks to a last-minute onslaught of registering before the February 1st "early bird" deadline, the RCW 139 Committee has just announced that there are now even MORE than the minimum needed number of registrations. The Con is on!! There are now only about 20 tickets left; if you want to attend RCW 139, the original Con for DueSers, you'd better get over to www.rcw139.org and register while there are still tickets to be had.
[identity profile] ride-4ever.livejournal.com
A reminder to everyone that you have one week left to register for the convention at a discounted rate, and using the deposit system. Until then, all you need to do is put a $75 deposit to book your ticket. The balance will be due by 31 May. And of course, the organizing committe needs to make sure they have enough registrations by 1 Feb to make the convention viable. They need just another 7 attendees to make this convention happen, so head over to the RCW 139 Online Store now to register!

Paul Gross, David Marciano, Tom Melissis, and Jay Semko have expressed interest in attending!

Latest News

3 January 2012

Hello everyone, and Happy 2012! We look forward to another stellar year in the Due South fandom, which should culminate with RCW 139: From A Million Miles, the 7th RCW 139 convention to be held in August in Toronto.

That said, we need your help to make the convention happen. We'll get right to the point: we currently do not have enough registrations to make the convention viable. Shortly after the last convention, and in early 2011, a lot of people wanted another event and asked when the next convention was going to be. Unfortunately, the great majority have not yet signed up. At this point, we need a minimum of 20 more attending registrations by 1 February 2012 to go ahead with RCW 139. This is by no means unreachable! And if you know you won't be able to attend, please get a supporting membership - the convention doesn't happen without our supporters (and you'll get a fantastic bag of goodies out of it!).

We know we're asking you to register well in advance, but the reality is that there is significant financial risk in organizing this event, which is borne entirely by the organizing committee. Remember that like you, we're just fans of the show who are doing this on the side. As such, we need to have a reasonable level of confidence that things are going to work out financially. At this point, all you need to do is place a $75 deposit before 1 February, and the balance of the payment will only be due by 31 May. For those who have already done so, thank you!

We think RCW 139: From A Million Miles will be another fantastic event. Each RCW 139 convention is unique... this one will be no different. You'll meet new and old friends alike, from all over the world. We already have interest from a number of guests, including Paul Gross, Jay Semko, Jeff King, and Tom Melissis. We have some new events planned, such as the Due South Props Exhibition. And of course we will bring back some of the more successful events: Due South Jeopardy, the Gala Dinner, Episode Watching... it will be an awesome time! So register now at the Online Store, and let's make this convention happen!

I've recently received this message from Steph Racle, Chair of the convention organising committee.

"In 2010, Paul opened up RCW 139, the Due South convention, with an awesome hour-long question & answer session. Paul has now expressed interest in attending RCW 139: From A Million Miles, the latest convention, to be held August 17-19 2012 in Toronto, Canada. For more information and to register, please see www.rcw139.org."

If anyone is planning on attending, registering sooner rather than later is be a good idea, you only need a deposit payment at this stage.

Please do it before February...and please spread the word. :)

Stephane says that for the Con to be a go, there needs to be 30 more registrants on the books by February.

"Early registrations are critical to ensuring the success of the convention!"

Just received email notification that registration is now open for the Due South convention next August. Limited to only 100 memberships!

From the RCW 139:From A Million Miles Due South Convention Committee:-

"Hello everyone!

As promised, registration for RCW 139: From A Million Miles is now open! You can find details as to how to register at www.rcw139.org, on the Registration/Online Store page under the RCW
139: 2012 tab. Here's a summary:

-Both attending and supporting memberships are on sale

-As per your request, we are once again using a deposit system for attending memberships. Deposits for adults are $75 and deposits for youth/children (17 and under) are $25. Deposits are due by 1 February 2012, and the balance of the payment will be due by 31 May 2012. You will also save up to $25 over the normal convention price by putting down a deposit.

-For supporting memberships: get yours now! Support RCW 139 and reserve your bagful of goodies, sure to be as good or better than last year's (remember the signed picture of Paul Gross in Gunless? The t-shirt? The matchbook from "Chicago Holiday"? The trading cards? And more...)! The price of supporting memberships is $50 + shipping - we are once again pre-charging shipping which will ensure you get your package as quickly as you did last year!

-All payments are through PayPal, our secure payment processor. You do not need a PayPal account to make a purchase.

-Note that attending memberships are capped at 100 this year - which will enable us to make sure the convention is as good or better than the last two. The only way to reserve your spot is to put down a deposit!

While we understand that making commitments this far in advance can be difficult, please realize that the entire financial risk of the convention is borne by the organizing committee. There is no profit in this for us - we are fans just like you, organizing what is sure to be another fantastic event. Therefore we must ask for your early registration. It doesn't have to be this week or even this month, but by 1 February 2012, we need to have enough registrations to make the convention viable. The entire Due South community has to pull together to make this happen. It is not the organizing committee's convention - it is everyone's convention, and it's going to be great!

If you have any questions, please consult our FAQ page, or send an e-mail to [email protected]! Thank you kindly!

Subject: [rcw139] Announcing... RCW 139: From A Million Miles

Hello everyone!
>
>For 2012, your organizing committee has chosen a theme which reflects the fact
that RCW 139 is all about the incredible people that come together from far and
wide to celebrate Due South and to enjoy each others' company - if only for a
few days... but for a few days that can make an impression for a lifetime. We're
excited to announce that next year's convention will be known as RCW 139: From A
Million Miles. The convention logo will be revealed in the coming weeks!
>
>Registration will start on 5 September, and we will be using a deposit system
once again this year. Full pricing will be announced shortly, although you can
expect that the cost will be similar to last year. Please note that we are
limiting registrations to 100 attendees this year. While we did not reach this
number last year, we feel that setting this cap is important to ensure that we
preserve the intimacy of the convention, the rapport with the guests, and the
overall quality of the experience. We look forward to your early registrations!
