I really liked the story, but one tiny factual error bugged me. I realize this makes me tediously anal-retentive. But - you don't have to put your dog in quaratine to bring it to the US from Canada. You just have to have proof they've had a rabies shot, and most customs people don't even look at the papers. You can bring a dog from anywhere into the US, no quarantine required. I think only the UK requires quarantine now.

Well, the show canonically has Diefenbaker in quarantine in the pilot episode, so we can argue about whether or not it's factually correct till our fingers fall off, but if it's canon in the show then I don't tend to argue with it too much. It's not like due South makes a huge effort to realistically depict all aspects of, um, just about anything.

You know, I actually went back and asked the author about the whole quarantine issue, because she is extremely detail-oriented and she does her homework, and she said she'd actually researched it and apparently there were quarantine regulations still in effect b/w the US and Canada in 1997 or 98, which is when this story would have taken place, so it's entirely likely that the canon is, in fact, correct!
